Job description

  • Provide AWS architecture and hands-on technical leadership across infrastructure, application, and integration layers
  • Perform hands-on AWS assessment and troubleshooting across core services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), and CloudWatch to identify root causes and systemic gaps
  • Lead stabilization and modernization efforts including batch reliability, performance tuning, monitoring/alerting, resiliency, and cost optimization
  • Establish reliable patching and maintenance operating patterns (including automation where possible) to reduce vulnerability exposure and improve compliance outcomes
  • Implement and mature observability practices using AWS-native capabilities (metrics, logs, alarms, dashboards) to reduce time-to-detect and time-to-recover
  • Own and evolve infrastructure-as-code, environment standards, and deployment patterns to improve repeatability and reduce release risk
  • Guide engineering teams on AWS-native services, reference architectures, and operational best practices aligned to Boeing standards
  • Manage technical design and change implementation for CAPS integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., Enterprise Accounting System, Finance Warehouse, Corporate Directory)
  • Drive platform governance improvements including cost optimization, operational discipline, and standardized cloud guardrails

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 10+ years of experience with AWS Cloud Technologies
  • 5+ years of experience in AWS Services? E.g. VPC, IAM, EC2, Auto-scaling, ELB, ECR, S3, DynamoDB, Postgres (RDS), Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, VPC, Route 53, Cloud Front, Cloud Watch, AWS Config, Cloudtrail, AWS Developer Tools etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud security architecture and design, with a focus on major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • 5+ years of experience with DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, cloud operations and automated deployments
  • Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional or equivalent)
  • Experience stabilizing production platforms after major modernization or cloud migration

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Architect to join the team in Renton, WA or Seattle, WA. This position will provide architecture and hands-on technical leadership for the Capital Assets Performance System (CAPS) on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring the platform is stable, secure, and operable for enterprise capital planning and high-visibility month-end financial processing. CAPS is an enterprise finance application used across Business Segments to plan and track capital budgets, obligations, expenditures, depreciation forecasting, and asset tagging in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Boeing Accounting Manual. CAPS is currently in an active stabilization phase following its AWS migration; this role will assess the current-state cloud architecture, remediate operability and security gaps, and define and execute the next phase of modernization to reduce incidents, improve automation, and strengthen platform governance. Over time, this role has the opportunity to also expand to support other applications in the Finance and Program Management portfolio.
