Job description

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking to immediately hire a university student to assist in cutting-edge research and developing new technologies for the Department of Defense and other government customers. This part-time position allows students to gain valuable real-world engineering experience while enjoying flexible work hours that fit around your class schedule. Come and apply what you learn in lab and lecture to our unmanned aircraft system (UAS) projects!

The student hired for this role will be responsible for supporting our engineering staff in the Sensing and Autonomy branch in our C4ISR Division. Work tasks will be assigned based on current program needs, but will likely include writing code for embedded devices, working with drones, and assisting engineers with their daily tasks.

The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems Division delivers mission-critical solutions, specializing in cyber operations, information architecture, strategic deterrence, and ISR. Requirements

  • Must be a Utah State University student pursuing a computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science degree
  • Must have at least one year of school remaining
  • Linux experience
  • Experience with electronics
  • Must have a passion for programming
  • Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summers
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance, * Experience with drones (Pixhawk, Arducopter, MAVLink, etc.)
  • A Part 107 license is a plus!
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and embedded systems
  • Strong C++ knowledge
  • Experience soldering
  • Knowledge of Git
