Job description
The Vice President of Engineering is Augeo's most senior engineering leader, serving as both the strategic operator and organizational backbone of the technology function. Reporting directly to the SVP of Technology, this role exists at the intersection of execution and vision: you'll translate organizational strategy into engineering outcomes, own the cross-platform programs that define Augeo's product and infrastructure trajectory, and serve as the SVP's primary deputy across every engineering domain.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage a single platform team. Augeo operates three distinct technology ecosystems: the AWE platform (TypeScript/React/Node.js/AWS), the Encore platform (.NET/C#/SQL Server), and multiple ColdFusion platforms (Lucee/ColdBox/MySQL), alongside a growing data infrastructure built on Snowflake and AWS. You'll lead engineering across all of them, ensuring alignment without requiring uniformity and driving cross-functional programs such as platform modernization, AI adoption, data migration, DevSecOps, SOC 2 compliance, which cannot be owned by any single platform team.
You'll be a genuine champion of AI-enabled engineering: not just deploying tools, but building the governance frameworks, measurement systems, and team culture that allow AI to compound across the organization. You'll be expected to quantify the impact of AI adoption, identify new opportunities for automation and intelligence, and lead by example in your own workflows. This role is designed for someone with the technical credibility to earn the trust of staff engineers, the strategic instincts to represent engineering at the executive level, and the operational discipline to keep complex, multi-platform programs moving.
Who You Are
An innovator who brings ideas to the table, works hard, tells your story, and builds new tech - someone who is a genuine collaborator who contributes to the team and helps accomplish amazing things in a high-energy and dynamic environment.
Curious: Keep learning, keep implementing, and iterate
High-level Job Requirements
- Partner with the SVP, Technology, to define and execute Augeo's multi-year engineering strategy, owning the translation from vision to roadmap to delivery
- Represent engineering in cross-functional executive conversations, acting as the SVP's primary deputy with full authority to commit engineering direction on their behalf Develop and maintain the engineering organizational model - team structures, career ladders, hiring plans, and capacity allocation
-
- in alignment with business priorities Establish and maintain the measurement infrastructure for AI ROI - productivity metrics, quality signals, cost baselines
-
- and report findings to the SVP and executive team on a regular cadence
- Identify and drive the next generation of AI-enabled engineering opportunities beyond coding assistants: agentic workflows, AI-powered infrastructure operations, intelligent quality assurance, and LLM-integrated product features
- Lead by example in AI adoption, demonstrating effective use of AI tools in your own workflows and establishing credibility as a practitioner, not just a sponsor
- Own the delivery health of cross-platform programs, establishing clear milestones, escalation paths, and executive reporting for initiatives that span multiple engineering teams
- Partner with the DevOps Lead to advance Augeo's DevSecOps posture: pipeline security, infrastructure as code adoption, secrets management, and automated compliance controls
- Maintain visibility into engineering velocity across all platform teams, identifying systemic blockers and driving resolution at the organizational level
- Own the engineering budget in partnership with the SVP, Technology, including tooling, infrastructure, and headcount planning
- Build and maintain a high-trust, high-accountability engineering culture that rewards technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and cross-team collaboration
- Mentor engineering managers in developing their own strategic and organizational leadership capabilities Champion Augeo's CORE values - Collaborative, Objective, Responsive, and Earnest
-
- as the standard for engineering culture and team behavior
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software development?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Demonstrated experience owning and delivering complex, cross-functional technical programs from strategy through production, including the ability to drive alignment across teams without direct authority Deep understanding of AI's practical applications in software engineering
-
- coding assistants, agentic workflows, AIOps, and LLM-integrated products with demonstrated experience governing AI adoption at an organizational level
- Strong executive communication skills: the ability to represent technical complexity accurately to non-technical stakeholders and translate business priorities back into engineering direction
- Experience navigating the tension between product investment and service delivery in a B2B SaaS environment, with demonstrated success in building frameworks that protect both
- Financial and organizational acumen: comfortable owning engineering budgets, headcount plans, and ROI conversations with executive leadership
- Security-first thinking: familiarity with SOC 2 Type II, PCI-DSS, and the operational disciplines required to maintain compliance in a multi-platform engineering environment
- Intellectual honesty and a strong bias toward measurement - you form opinions from data and update them when data changes
- Drive the resolution of the product vs. professional services capacity tension, developing frameworks that protect strategic engineering investment while honoring client delivery commitments
Desired Technical Skills
- Senior-level fluency across at least two of Augeo's core technology ecosystems: .NET/C#/SQL Server, TypeScript/React/Node.js, or ColdFusion (Coldbox, Lucee)
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure, including cross-account networking, IAM architecture, and service-to-service authentication patterns
- Experience with data pipeline architectures, including CDC patterns, ETL/ELT frameworks, and cloud data warehouse migration strategies
- Familiarity with DevSecOps tooling and practices: CI/CD pipeline security, SAST/DAST/SCA, secrets management, and infrastructure as code
- Practical experience with AI/ML tooling in engineering contexts: AI coding assistants (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code), agentic workflow development, and AIOps platforms
- Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2 Type II, PCI-DSS) and their engineering implications at the infrastructure and SDLC level
- Experience with engineering metrics and observability: DORA metrics, AI productivity measurement, delivery velocity tracking, and quality signal instrumentation, * 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in engineering leadership at the Director level or above, spanning multiple technology platforms or product lines simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering organizations spanning multiple technology platforms or product lines simultaneously
- Background in B2B SaaS environments with enterprise clients strongly preferred; experience navigating the product/professional services tension is a significant differentiator
- Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent demonstrated technical leadership experience)
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and modern engineering toolchains
