Job description

Advanced Technical Solutions (ATS) is seeking a Network Administrator who will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining network infrastructure for multiple client environments. This role involves maintaining reliable network operations, security, and performance across client systems including LAN, WAN, cloud connectivity, and security infrastructure. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, proactive monitoring, and the ability to support diverse technologies across different client networks.

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure across multiple client environments.
  • Manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VPN solutions.
  • Maintain connectivity for LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud-based networks.

Monitoring and Proactive Maintenance

  • Use remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools to monitor network health and performance.
  • Identify potential issues proactively and remediate before service disruption.
  • Maintain system patching, firmware updates, and configuration backups.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance frameworks such as those from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or other regulatory requirements when required by clients.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents.

Client Support and Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve complex network and connectivity issues.
  • Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 technical support to service desk staff and client IT contacts.
  • Escalate issues when necessary and coordinate with vendors.

Documentation and Standards

  • Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and asset inventories.
  • Standardize configurations across clients where possible to improve security and efficiency.
  • Document incident resolution and service procedures.

Vendor and Client Coordination

  • Work with hardware vendors and internet service providers to resolve service issues.
  • Assist with technology recommendations and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Participate in client onboarding and infrastructure assessments.

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of network administration experience.
  • Willingness to commute between Loudoun County and Frederick County, Virginia.
  • Experience supporting multiple environments or clients (MSP experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • TCP/IP networking
  • Routing and switching
  • VLANs
  • DNS and DHCP
  • VPN technologies
  • Network security
  • Experience with networking equipment from vendors such as:
  • Cisco Systems
  • Ubiquiti
  • WatchGuard Technologies
  • Fortinet
  • Sonicwall

Preferred Certifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Fortinet NSE Certification
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (for security-heavy MSP environments)

Technical Skills

  • Experience with cabling is a major plus
