Job description
We are seeking a Senior System Administrator (Red Hat Linux) to support and enhance monitoring operations within a major EU institution based in Brussels. You will join a high-impact Operations Centre responsible for ensuring the stability, security and performance of critical IT services across hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructures. Responsibilities:

Install, configure, harden, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers (physical & virtual)

Manage ~600 Linux servers including patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning

Maintain automated deployment images and server lifecycle processes

Administer:
-
Red Hat Satellite (patching & package distribution)
-
Red Hat Identity Management (IdM)
-
System certificates, SSH access, and service accounts
-
Manage infrastructure using Ansible
-
Develop and maintain scripts (Shell, Python) for automation
-
Support infrastructure as code practices
-
Deploy and manage containers using Docker and Kubernetes
-
Support Linux OS environments on Oracle clusters
-
Monitor systems using open-source tools and resolve OS-level issues
-
Handle incident and problem management (analysis, diagnosis, resolution)
-
Ensure security compliance, including vulnerability management and patching
-
Design and implement new Linux-based solutions (including DevOps architectures)

Evaluate and test new technologies (proofs of concept, market analysis)

Participate in projects with cross-functional teams (network, security, development, architecture)
Requirements

Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6/7/8)

Hands-on expertise with:

Ansible and automation tools

Red Hat Satellite

Scripting: Shell and/or Python

System hardening and vulnerability management

Experience managing enterprise-scale Linux environments

Virtualization (VMware environment)
