Job description
Position Summary: Oversee the Tool Room and personnel to meet production requirements in regards to all tooling demands. Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving current and new tools. Provide training, as required, to production and tool room personnel involved with the operation, development, and troubleshooting of tools., * Manage all aspects of the tool department in regards to staffing, scheduling, quality, safety, cost control, and the efficient use of tool room equipment and personnel;
- Contribute to leading and abiding by the use of standardized processes for pressroom and tool room to maximize expectations for reliability;
- Serve as a liaison between engineering, tool room, and manufacturing on a project by project basis;
- Act as a technical resource for feasibility, concepts, and methods to improve tooling performance and/or part quality;
- Troubleshoot new and existing tools and establish and track corrective action to reduce downtime;
- Proactively research, recommend, and justify capital equipment expenditures to improve tool room process and function;
- Review current methods and processes to identify opportunities in the reduction of set-up times and improve tooling life;
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and be actively involved in the implementation, planning, and execution of those projects;
- Create purchase orders and work with contractors and vendors to order new and replacement tooling;
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment;
- Comply with company handbooks and policies;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Supervising experience?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * 5 years' experience in a previous supervisory role, preferably with Tool room or related technical field is required;
- A Journeyman's Tool and Die Card and/or Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or related technical field is preferred;
- Strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills are required;
- Basic computer skills with the ability to understand and learn programs quickly is required;
- Advanced knowledge in Excel is preferred;
- Ability to interpret readings in CAD and Solid Works is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently;
- Have the ability to work 8+ hour shift standing, sitting, bending and reaching throughout the duration of your shift;
- Able to feel, grasp and touch parts to perform quality checks regularly;
- Consistently works in a noisy and hot environment;
- Have attention to detail and depth perception to perform quality checks frequently.
