Job description

Under general direction of the Research Specialist II, Projections and Estimates Section, Office of Research, the Research Data Specialist II (RDS II) will independently and collaboratively perform quantitative and qualitative data-driven research and statistical analysis related to CDCR's Populations. The RDS II uses Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) and may use other statistical software (such as R, SPSS) to perform complex data analyses; SAS and system modeling software such as Simul8 for population modeling and forecasting; and visualization, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software (e.g., Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) to prepare charts, tables, presentations, and research reports for a variety of audiences. The RDS II may perform assignments independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team. The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. Do you have experience in Statistics?, Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
