Job description

The Desktop Engineer is directly involved with the operational delivery of technical services within Information Technology. Desktop Engineers have primary responsibility for delivery of services required to install, configure, monitor, support and manage the RoundPoint systems. The Desktop Engineer possesses an enterprise view and understanding of the systems and technologies in place at RoundPoint, as well as strong technical skills. This candidate performs operations planning, configuration, and management for complex systems and/or services within RoundPoint. While primarily responsible for hardware and operating system components, this person possesses a higher-level understanding of the business environment and the business applications running on the systems being managed, and leverages that knowledge to achieve operational efficiencies, including recommending improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities for PC systems
  • Troubleshoots and repairs PC system failures or problems.
  • Respond to emails, calls, and walk-ups in a timely and professional manner to manage expectations.
  • Provide implementation and production support as required.
  • Provide supplemental support as needed, across several technology domains with a focus on core Window technologies (including AD, DFS, SQL, Exchange, Azure, O365 etc).
  • Support audio video conferences for members of the firm.
  • Participates as technical resource in cross-team troubleshooting efforts.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection and installation of new hardware products and operating system versions
  • Creates supportable documents pertaining to system builds and configuration
  • Ensures that documentation is kept up to date and reflects all changes
  • Schedules and manages system activities in order to optimize hardware/software availability and utilization.
  • Interacts with the other on-site/off-site IT staff to ensure that support services delivered to staff are provided in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation and management of PC systems
  • Able to work nights and weekends to assist with windows patching, infrastructure upgrades, moving equipment (PCs Monitors), and all other IT Equipment as needed.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for meeting RoundPoint's commitment to compliance

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software deployment?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Associate degree in relevant field with 2+ years technical support experience or 4+ years of technical support experience in lieu of a degree in Financial Services or Mortgage Servicing.

  • Experience with the deployment, repair and maintenance of computer hardware such as workstations, laptops, IP phones, smartphones, tablets, printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Experience with the deployment, repair and maintenance of software such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with general networking and customer/server concepts, such as SAN technology, VPN technologies, MDM Solutions, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Cloud Solutions including Azure. AWS, Office 365, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange Server.
