Job DescriptionResponsible to PrincipalHours Monday to Thursday 8.30 am - 5 pmFriday 8.30 am - 1 pmTerm time only - three terms - working 39 weeksSalary CompetitiveOMBS is a small independent business school offering a one year intensive Professional Business Diploma to students 18+. The course is job focused, teaching practical skills employers are looking for. The diploma is taught over three 12 week terms, starting in September and ending in July. We attract students looking for an alternative to university, or potentially those in their gap year, as well as postgraduates looking for an additional skillset. OMBS is located centrally in Oxford just a 20-minute walk from the train station.We are seeking a talented and highly motivated tutor of Advanced IT and Digital Literacy.Essential Knowledge Criteria for All Candidates- Confident and skilled Advanced Microsoft Office and Google user across all packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Google Docs- Sheets and Slides- Excellent command of the English LanguageDesirable- Experience of teaching IT/ICT - applicants that are not qualified teachers may be considered if they have relevant experience, as training will be given- Industry experience in a specialist business areaSkills & CompetenciesEssential- Strong communication and presentation skills- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to students- Excellent organisational and time management skills- Ability to provide constructive feedback on assignments and assessments- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues- Self-motivating- Flexible- Possess a naturally, friendly personality and be a team player- Willingness to embrace change- Ability to work independently and take initiativeDesirable- Experience facilitating group learning- Interest in curriculum developmentJob Role and ResponsibilitiesTo lead the IT Department, teaching Advanced IT skills to each class of 16 students, including having personal tutor responsibilities to one student group.DutiesLiaise with the Principal with regarding to the timetable and availability of staffPrepare Schemes of WorkPrepare folders for the termPrepare termly grade sheetsLiaise with Network Manager regarding computers and peripheralsPrepare display material and update noticeboardsUpdate Office 365Chair weekly IT meetingsMonitor Staff performanceOrganise and participate in lesson observationsMonitor the use of IT in industry through industry relationships and our recruitment partnersDevelop new material to reflect the changing use of IT in industryMonitor the OMBS curriculumPrepare Staff training programmeTeaching ResponsibilitiesTeach Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database, Outlook to Advanced levelBe prepared for each lesson including, scheme of work, lesson plan, teaching notes, objectives, resourcesEvaluate each lesson and feedback to the teamMaintain records with regard to behaviour, attendance, and student achievementBring any anomalies regarding behaviour, attendance, and student achievement to the attention of group tutorsMarking students work as and when required and entering on the databaseAttend weekly staff meetingsAttend end of term full staff meetingsBe involved and willing to embrace OMBS - events, speakers, graduationGroup Tutor ResponsibilitiesBe responsible for the academic journey of each student in your tutor group as well as their pastoral careMeet formally once a week with student group as per timetableBe responsible for keeping the attendance record of each student up to dateLiaise with subject tutors when necessaryInput data for half term appraisals and end of term testimonialsTake responsibility for your tutor group at graduationBenefits of Employment at OMBSCompetitive salaryStaff social eventsDiscretionary annual bonusExcellent working conditions and environmentWorkplace pensionCycle parking
