Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior BI Engineer for a leading healthcare technology organization. This role focuses on building and optimizing enterprise-scale business intelligence solutions using Databricks, SQL, and Power BI. The Senior BI Engineer will work across both backend data engineering and frontend reporting, partnering directly with stakeholders to translate complex business problems into actionable insights. This individual will serve as a technical leader, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the evolution of modern analytics capabilities, including automation and AI-enabled reporting.

Day-to-Day:

  • Design, develop, and optimize Power BI reports and datasets

  • Build and maintain SQL and Databricks solutions supporting BI use cases

  • Translate business questions into scalable analytics and reporting solutions

  • Optimize report performance using DAX and data modeling best practices

  • Support data validation, accuracy checks, and troubleshooting

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and recommend solutions

  • Mentor BI Engineer IIs and contribute to technical design discussions

  • Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and code reviews

  • Support automation, governance, and security initiatives within the BI platform

  • Publish and maintain reports following established standards

Requirements

Must Haves:

  • Strong SQL experience supporting enterprise-scale datasets

  • Advanced Power BI development skills (DAX, data modeling, report optimization)

  • Hands-on Databricks experience (data engineering and analytics workloads)

  • Ability to operate as a full-stack BI engineer (backend data + frontend reporting)

  • Experience building and optimizing complex BI solutions end to end

  • Experience engaging directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements

  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers

  • Familiarity with Agile / SDLC processes - Python experience (automation, REST APIs, or Databricks workloads)

  • Power BI administration or Microsoft Fabric experience

  • CI/CD pipelines for BI or data platforms

  • Power Automate or Logic Apps for automation workflows

  • REST API experience (Power BI admin, automation, or table creation)

  • Azure Data Factory experience

  • Experience migrating or modernizing BI platforms at scale

  • Finance, healthcare, or revenue cycle analytics experience

  • Exposure to AI / Copilot / Generative AI tools (Databricks Genie, AI-assisted analytics)

  • Executive-facing reporting experience
