  • You will produce insights, advocating for them and driving them into action

  • You will work with analysts on other teams to understand ALTA's contribution to our goals and trends

  • You will investigate and visualize relationships between our models' outputs and user segments and behavior, to motivate algorithm improvements

  • You will demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence (https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/) and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with data analytics or data science teams to deliver reporting, analysis and insight or a quantitative degree

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases

  • Proficiency in Python or R

  • 1+ years of experience in A/B testing or experimental methods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Google BigQuery, AWS, or other big data environments

  • Comfort with version control (Github, code review)

  • 1+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Mode, Tableau, or Lookr

  • 1+ years of experience applying statistics to strategic problems
