Job description

The IT Specialist is under the direct supervision of the Director of IT and the indirect supervision of the Tribal Administrator. The incumbent is responsible for installing, modifying and making minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical advice and support to system users., 1. Identifies and procures the hardware and software needed to satisfy user requirements.

  1. Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and drivers on users' premises.

  2. Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.

  3. Assisting in the customization and adaption of existing programs to meet user requirements.

  4. Provides telephone, in-person and online support to end-users.

  5. Coordinates activities with network services and information system groups.

  6. Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users, via voice mail, email, or in-person communication.

  7. Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.

  8. Maintains user network and building access accounts.

  9. Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.

  10. Administers e-mail and anti-virus systems.

  11. Maintains inventory and assets.

  12. Assists in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies.

  13. Other duties as assigned.

SAFETY

  1. Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to: reporting all incidents and accidents to your supervisor timely (within 24 hours); maintaining work areas in a safe and healthful manner; reporting and correcting any unsafe working conditions; operating vehicles in a safe and lawful manner while conducting Tribal business; providing input and assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards; actively supporting ongoing safety efforts, including recommendations of the safety committee.

  2. Due to the nature of interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety regulations?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, 1. MS/BS degree in Computing Sciences or equivalent is preferred. Credit will be given to candidates that do not have the relevant degrees but can demonstrate equivalent work experience, with at least 2 years of experience.

  1. Trade certificates in related areas are a plus.

  9. Safety and Security- the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and material properly.
