Network Engineer

A large enterprise financial organization is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for an opportunity based in Irving, TX. This position centers around F5 BIG-IP and VMware AVI (NSX Advanced Load Balancer) technologies, supporting global network infrastructure and high-volume application delivery environments. This is a 24-month contract focused on scaling and modernizing load balancing systems across a complex enterprise landscape., Tech Breakdown

• 70% Load Balancing Technologies (F5 BIG-IP / VMware AVI)
• 20% Core Network Engineering (routing, switching, firewalls)
• 10% Automation (Python / Ansible)

Daily Responsibilities

• 70% Hands-on engineering including configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting
• 10% Planning, documentation, and contributing to process improvements
• 20% Cross-functional collaboration and coordination with other infrastructure teams

• 7+ years of experience in network engineering, network operations, or a combination of both
• 5+ years of hands-on experience working with F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM or VMware AVI
• Strong background in load balancing, application delivery, and network infrastructure systems
• Experience performing code upgrades, configurations, and full lifecycle management of F5 environments
• Hands-on experience working with SSL/TLS protocols and secure traffic configurations
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewall technologies
• Experience supporting production environments at scale
• 2+ years of experience with automation using Python or Ansible

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working within large enterprise or regulated environments
• Exposure to or interest in transitioning from F5 to AVI / NSX Advanced Load Balancer
• Understanding of three-tier application architecture including web, application, and database layers
• Experience diagnosing network capacity and performance issues in high-traffic environments
• Familiarity with automation tools and ticketing systems such as Jira
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across infrastructure teams
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance-driven network design
• Prior F5 BIG-IP certification or similar certifications are a plus
