Job description
As a Medical Data Engineer / Data-Centric ML Engineer at FUSE-AI, you will work at the intersection of medical imaging, data engineering, machine learning and regulated software development. The role focuses on building reliable, traceable and high-quality medical imaging data pipelines that enable the development, validation and continuous improvement of our AI-based products and projects. Varied and challenging activities around medical image data, data-centric machine learning and AI-based software development Planning, design and implementation of data pipelines for medical image data, e.g. DICOM-based workflows Development and maintenance of processes for data ingestion, structuring and traceability Establishment and continuous improvement of dataset governance, including data quality checking, dataset versioning, documentation Feasibility analyses of problems regarding artificial intelligence and machine learning and the development of suitable solution strategies Management and quality assurance of annotations, labels and ground truth data used for medical machine learning model development and validation Support in the selection and integration of suitable tools, frameworks and technologies to improve our ML development and deployment processes according to regulatory compliance and requirements Further development and optimization of our products/projects Analysis and solving of complex development tasks in teamwork Independent study of state of the art knowledge
Requirements
Do you have experience in R?, A successfully completed degree in (technical) computer science, physics or a comparable scientific discipline. If academic qualifications or further education are not sufficient to demonstrate software engineering, programming and development-related skills, evidence of an equivalent level needs to be demonstrated e.g. trial working day Several years of experience in machine learning / deep learning / image processing / data engineering in the medical field Experienced in Python and AI-related frameworks Experience in working on Linux-based infrastructure Experience with medical image data (DICOM), metadata handling and imaging workflows Competent in building and maintaining data pipelines for medical image datasets Competent in annotation and label management for medical image datasets Competent in data versioning, data logging, traceability and visualization Knowledge in configuration and managing databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, etc. Proficiency in software engineering in collaboration with Git Competent in concepts for software development procedures, agile project development methodologies and project management (e.g. Jira, MS Project, etc.) Competent in requirement engineering regarding to usability and clinical indication Good communication in balance with respect, kindness and feedback culture Hands-on mentality and problem-solving mindset in accordance with best practice and requirements Independent structured manner of working and interest in collaboration and further development in an interdisciplinary team Proficiency in German and English communication
Nice-to-haves Knowledge and understanding in medical and clinical workflows and medicine e.g. radiology, hospital information system (HIS) Knowledge with medical device regulations (EU MDR, FDA, ISO, etc.)
