Job description

Sourced Intelligence is hiring a Network and Security Field Engineer to support our managed service and digital protection operations. This is a hands-on, in-person role responsible for deploying and supporting Palo Alto Networks firewalls at client sites, troubleshooting networking issues on the fly, and providing day-to-day internal IT and communications support to our team. You will represent Sourced Intelligence directly with clients, so professionalism, discretion, and clear communication are as important as your technical skill set. This is an execution-heavy role with room to grow, ideal for someone who wants to deepen their infrastructure and security skillset while contributing directly to meaningful client work.

ResponsibilitiesClient Network Engineering

  • Plan, configure, and install Palo Alto Networks NGFW appliances (PA-400 series and above) at client sites, including initial provisioning, licensing, and integration with Panorama where applicable
  • Design and implement firewall policies, NAT, App-ID/User-ID rules, URL filtering, GlobalProtect VPN, and SSL decryption based on client requirements
  • Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WLAN environments, VLAN segmentation, routing (static/OSPF/BGP basics), switching, and wireless access points
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting of networking, connectivity, and performance issues; resolve incidents in real time during client visits
  • Document client environments; topology diagrams, IP plans, change logs and keep records current after every engagement

Internal IT Support & Communications

  • Provide first- and second-line IT support to the Sourced Intelligence team across Windows, macOS, and mobile endpoints
  • Administer Google Workspace, identity/SSO, MFA enrollment, mailbox and group management, and shared drive permissions
  • Support internal communications platforms (voice, video, chat, conferencing) and ensure reliable day-to-day operation
  • Support endpoint management via JAMF, Intune, or equivalent MDM tooling; assist with imaging, hardening, and patch compliance
  • Maintain the internal network, VPN, and firewall posture to the same standard we deliver to clients

Client Engagement & Field Readiness

  • Travel regularly to client sites for installations, audits, and incident response
  • Communicate clearly with non-technical client stakeholders before, during, and after on-site work; produce concise written summaries of work performed
  • Carry and maintain a field kit (laptop, console cables, spare optics, etc.); ensure readiness for short-notice dispatch
  • Maintain the discretion and professionalism expected when working in client homes, offices, and family office environments

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in macOS administration?, * 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying and supporting enterprise or SMB network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, wireless, VPN)

  • Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto Networks firewalls in production is required
  • CompTIA Network+ certification (or equivalent - e.g., CCNA, JNCIA)
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and common network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, traceroute, packet captures)
  • Familiarity with macOS endpoint support, Google Workspace administration, and standard MFA/SSO concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical issues into plain language for clients and teammates
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within the DC metro area
  • U.S. citizenship required due to CMMC and government contract compliance obligations. Note: Sourced Intelligence does not currently hold or sponsor security clearances

Additional Skillsets

  • Palo Alto Networks certification - PCNSA or PCNSE strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive networking and IT operations experience

  • Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and monitoring security controls in client environments, including perimeter defenses (firewalls/UTM), VPN and zero-trust access solutions, and centralized logging pipelines
  • Prior military, federal, or contractor IT/communications/cyber experience
