Contract Java/Kotlin DeveloperRemote (UK-based) | Monthly Office Travel RequiredInitial 6-Month ContractWe are looking for an experienced Java/Kotlin Developer to join a fast-paced engineering team working on modern developer tooling and compliance platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to multiple Kotlin and Java-based applications and proof-of-concepts built using modern microservice architecture and agile engineering practices.The successful candidate will work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders to build scalable APIs and web applications that support software development governance and engineering standards across a large enterprise environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with developers, testers, and wider engineering teams to build and support productsDesign, develop, and implement backend features aligned to backlog prioritiesContribute to lightweight front-end development using simple UI frameworksBuild and maintain APIs and microservices using modern engineering practicesWork collaboratively with the engineering team to design and launch new featuresProactively engage with users and stakeholders to resolve issues and respond to feature requestsOperate effectively within an Agile CI/CD delivery environmentParticipate in peer reviews and contribute to automated testing practices Skills & Experience RequiredCommercial experience with Kotlin, or strong Java experience with a willingness to learn KotlinExperience with at least 2-3 of the following:API developmentSQL/databasesHTML/JavascriptStrong experience working with microservices architectureExcellent technical troubleshooting and analytical skillsExperience using developer collaboration tools such as GitHub/Bitbucket, Jira, and ConfluenceStrong written and verbal English communication skillsProactive mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownershipExcellent attention to detail and code quality Nice to HaveExposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP What's on OfferOpportunity to work with modern enterprise technologies and engineering practicesExposure to innovative development tooling and platform engineering initiativesAccess to internal training events and technical workshopsKnowledge-sharing sessions with experienced industry professionals
