Job description

As a mid-level SDET within a growing squad, you'll have real ownership. You won't be handed a test plan and told to execute it. You'll be writing clean, maintainable code, building robust automation solutions, and collaborating with developers as a genuine engineering peer.

You'll also help shape the standards that junior engineers learn from. If you've already found yourself naturally guiding less experienced colleagues, helping them work through problems or improve their approach, this role gives that instinct a proper home.

And as the team scales into senior positions, this is a genuine launchpad, not a holding pattern.

Core Technology Stack

  • Playwright and/or Selenium, confident and independent usage expected
  • C# and JavaScript/TypeScript, writing code you'd be happy to have reviewed
  • Azure DevOps and GitHub
  • CI/CD pipeline contribution
  • Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform
  • API testing and integration testing

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and building scalable automated testing solutions with clean, well-structured code
  • Taking sprint-level ownership of test design, execution and quality
  • Applying risk-based testing approaches across complex enterprise systems
  • Contributing to framework improvements and CI/CD-driven delivery
  • Collaborating with developers, analysts and delivery stakeholders
  • Supporting and guiding junior team members, sharing knowledge and helping them grow
  • Driving continuous improvement in testing practices

Requirements

Do you have experience in Test automation?, You've got the foundations and now you want to do something with them. You're not looking for just another QA role. You want to work on genuinely complex systems, with engineers who care about quality as much as you do, in an environment where your contribution actually matters., * Solid automation experience with Playwright and/or Selenium

  • Strong coding ability in C# or JavaScript/TypeScript, you write code as an engineer, not just as a tester
  • Some experience supporting or mentoring more junior colleagues, even informally
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership end-to-end
  • Experience within Agile environments and sprint-based delivery
  • Understanding of testing frameworks, best practices and CI/CD
  • Strong communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Banking or financial services exposure is a bonus, not a barrier

Benefits & conditions

Pulled from the full job description

  • Employee mentoring programme
  • Free parking
  • Company pension
  • Work from home
  • On-site parking, * Squad-based structure, you'll be a key player with real ownership
  • Pathway to Senior SDET as the team scales
  • Enterprise complexity without the bureaucracy of a large corporate
  • Work alongside engineers who genuinely care about craft and code quality
  • Exposure to modern tooling and real transformation programmes
  • A team being built around quality engineering as a discipline, not an afterthought

*** NB: We cannot accept application who need sponsorship to work in the UK at this time ***

If you're ready to take real ownership of quality engineering in a team that's building something worth being part of, we'd love to talk.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

About the company

Loupe Testware is building a quality engineering team of around 15 engineers over the next 6 to 12 months, structured into squads. It's a build, and you, as a mid-level SDET, are the engine of it. The Opportunity Our flagship engagement is a major transformation programme with one of the UK's most respected private banking institutions. We're replacing legacy test approaches with modern, engineering-led automation and we need SDETs who can step in, take ownership of a sprint, and deliver.
