Job description
This is a senior-level Site Reliability Engineering mandate at a Tier-1 North American telecommunications provider. The team maintains the Oracle database infrastructure underpinning billing, customer records, and service fulfilment for millions of subscribers. If this system goes down, customers cannot be billed or serviced. The mandate requires an engineer who can own mission-critical Oracle environments independently., * Administer Oracle database environments (9i through 19c) including installation, configuration, testing, and ongoing maintenance
- Design, plan, and support disaster recovery (DR) processes including failover testing and recovery validation
- Configure, manage, and report on standalone and RAC/clustered Oracle database server environments
- Administer Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication and integration (required)
- Perform backup and recovery operations using RMAN integrated with CommVault and/or NetApp
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning; recommend improvements to current environments
- Develop and maintain Shell and PERL scripts for DBA automation and operational tasks
- Train and mentor junior DBAs on Oracle products (11g, 12c, 18c, 19c) and troubleshooting techniques
- Act as escalation point for high-priority incidents and complex troubleshooting scenarios
Requirements
Do you have experience in Database installation?, * 4-7 years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience in production environments (installation, commissioning, troubleshooting)
- Proficiency with Oracle versions 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c
- Oracle GoldenGate experience - required; candidates without this will not advance
- RMAN backup/recovery experience with CommVault and/or NetApp integration
- Expertise in Data Guard, performance tuning, and database security hardening
- Shell scripting capability; PERL scripting is an added advantage
- Experience with incident response and postmortem analysis in mission-critical environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, or related field
- Previous exposure to hybrid on-premises/cloud environments is desirable
- PostgreSQL familiarity is a plus but not required
