Job description
As a Solutions Architect you will be providing guidance and governance in its development, considering relevant architectures, strategies, and policies resulting in the development of new and existing capabilities that support our corporate goals and objectives.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Azure?, We are looking for candidates with previous experience of:
- Working with delivery teams
- Making architectural decisions
- Acting as a design consultant to technical staff
- Describing an organisation's architecture
- Contributing to an organisation's technical strategy
- Maintaining governance over accepted policies and standards
You will be a valued part of the Strategic Design team with Solution, Enterprise, Infrastructure & Business Architects. You will take part as an active member in the Technical Design Authority discussing solutions and decisions you and others bring forward. While you will be leading the definition of the technical solutions, you will collaborate with the technical and solution leaders amongst others to develop the best solution for the business need.
You want to be at the forefront of change ideally bringing a wide experience of researching, evaluating and creating solutions with different technologies, but mainly a willingness to learn new things. Good interpersonal skills will be key, so you can engage with business and technology leaders effortlessly to test, distil and present the information tailored to these groups and the wider organisation.
We would prefer candidates to have experience of one or more of the following areas:
- Working with architectural frameworks or models
- Identify, define and maintain policies, blueprints & roadmaps
- Software architecture
- Integration of commercial off the shelf packages
- Delivery of a core IT function e.g. ERP, CRM, ECM
- Defining hybrid cloud / on prem-solutions
- Proven knowledge in public sector organisations, ideally in the education sector and/or awarding body
- Leading designs for small & medium sized solutions
- Exposure to component and package solutions
- Microsoft technologies (Dynamics, Azure, M365, Teams)
- Good understanding of AI it's use, implementation, challenges in an enterprise context
Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (SVQ 4/Degree) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role.

We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements and offer full hybrid working, with offices in Glasgow and Dalkeith. Currently the team mainly works from home with in-person workshops in our offices.
