Job description

Work closely with product management and other key stakeholders to define the strategy and technical roadmap for electrification of new and existing Tennant machines.

Translate business requirements into well-designed, implemented, and documented solutions.

Establish functional requirements and performance targets for electrical sub-systems.

Develop new ideas/hypotheses, conduct quick Proofs-of-Concept (POCs) to validate them and de-risk development.

Technical lead of machine control system designs, working with cross-functional teams to execute complex engineering projects.

Document and share best practices to enable design improvements, reuse and maintenance.

Lead and participate in Design Reviews.

Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external vendors and design services teams.

Understanding of electrical system development including wiring harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), embedded software, and regulatory testing (UL, IEC, EMC).
Requirements

Creative, dynamic team player, able to lead cross-functional groups.

Well-developed problem solving and root cause analysis capabilities.

Experience leading architectural decision using model-based system engineering (MBSE) tools.

Experience leading electrical design activities including developing cost and schedule targets.

Experience leveraging modeling and simulation of systems to augment requirement validation and verification.
-
Flexibility to adapt and drive progress when design aspects are not fully defined or evolve over time.

Effective communication with an ability to explain complex technical challenges to stakeholders., + BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 7+ years of experience.

Prior electrical system design of electric vehicles highly desirable.

Proven track-record of technical leadership in electrical architecture design and implementation.

Experience with electrical systems integration, including: harnessing, connectors, cable routing, mechanical protection (sleeving), and electrical protection (fuses, circuit breakers).

History of working effectively on cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Hardware, Systems, Software, Production, Supply Chain, etc.).

Experience in requirements decomposition, development, authoring, and verification along with usage of requirements management tools and interface control documentation.

Proven ability to de-risk complicated projects by breaking them into development milestones and proof-of-concept efforts.
-
History with task management and defect tracking tools such as Jira.
-
Ability to present complex technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
-
Expertise in control systems modeling, design, analysis, and simulation using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, MathCad, or PSpice.
-
Experience with communication interfaces and networks including CAN, RS-232, Ethernet, and USB.
-
Power electronics, power systems, and closed loop control systems experience preferred.
-
Experience with mechanical design software basic functionality with tools such as Solidworks.
Benefits & conditions
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $97,000- $150,600
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Sales and Service Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
