Job description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Contract Network & Unified Communications (UC) Engineer for a 6+ month engagement based out of our client's Sacramento, CA office(hybrid).

This hybrid role requires a robust blend of traditional Cisco routing, switching, and wireless network infrastructure refresh experience, paired with strong Cisco Telephony/Voice infrastructure capabilities.

The successful contractor will participate in several critical technology lifecycle initiatives, including complete hardware switch and wireless access point migrations, ongoing Cisco voice maintenance, and a major upgrade of our client's core Enghouse voice recording application integration.

Key Responsibilities

Network Equipment Refresh: Participate in end-to-end configuration, migration, deployment, and testing of legacy Cisco switch infrastructure and Cisco wireless equipment (WLCs and Access Points) across our client's regional sites.

Telephony Infrastructure Maintenance: Execute routine and complex lifecycle maintenance tasks across the Cisco Unified Communications suite, ensuring optimal uptime, call routing accuracy, and trunk reliability.

Voice Recording Application Upgrade: Manage and technical execute the upgrade of our Enghouse software suite closely integrated with Cisco telephony system. Re-establish and optimize call-recordinghandoffs via JTAPI, AXL, or Built-in Bridge (BiB) mechanics.

Downtime Mitigation: Develop rigorous migration checklists, failback methodologies, and conductchanges during designated off-peak windows to guarantee minimal disruption to ongoing business and voice-center operations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireless network deployment projects?, Minimum 5+ years of extensive experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switches and Cisco Enterprise Wireless architectures (WLC, APs).

Cisco Voice Ecosystem: Strong working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection (CUC), and basic voice gateway protocols (SIP/H.323/MGCP).

Third-Party Integrations: Proven track record of upgrading or managing third-party call recordingsolutions (Enghouse Interactive preferred; experience with similar integrations like Verint, Nice, or Calabrio is acceptable).

Migration Expertise: Demonstrable experience managing a hardware lifecycle replacement from initial discovery through execution and post-go-live verification.

Preferred Certifications

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or CollaborationCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) with extensive field experience

Pay: $65.00 - $80.00 per hour
