Job description

Work set up: Hybrid (3 days per week in office) Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Storage Architect / Storage Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade storage, virtualization, and data platform solutions across hybrid environments. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise storage platforms, virtualization technologies, data center infrastructure, migration strategies, cloud technologies, automation, and container-based architectures. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with infrastructure, cloud, security, and DevOps teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and high-performance storage services supporting mission-critical workloads and modernization initiatives. What you will do: Storage Architecture and Engineering

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage solutions across SAN, NAS, and object storage platforms within multi-vendor environments.
  • Lead storage assessments, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and performance optimization initiatives.
  • Develop High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low Level Designs (LLDs) for on-premises and hybrid storage environments.
  • Define and execute end-to-end data migration strategies, including host-based, array-based replication, storage-to-storage, and cloud migration approaches.
  • Deliver disaster recovery storage architectures, including replication, failover design, and operational runbooks.
  • Design and configure SAN fabrics, zoning, multipathing, and storage connectivity solutions.

Virtualization and Compute Integration

  • Architect and support VMware environments, including vCenter, ESXi, HA/DRS clusters, storage policies, and vSAN.
  • Integrate storage solutions with VMware, Hyper-V, and container-based platforms.
  • Participate in large-scale data center migrations, consolidation programs, disaster recovery testing, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Cloud and Modernization

  • Contribute to cloud storage architecture and hybrid connectivity designs, with a focus on Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Design and support cloud-native storage solutions, including managed disks, Azure Files/NFS, and blob lifecycle management policies.
  • Support subscription planning, backup strategies, replication models, and network integration within hybrid cloud environments.

Containerization and Platform Engineering

  • Support OpenShift and Kubernetes platform design activities related to storage integration.
  • Configure storage classes, CSI drivers, and persistent storage solutions for containerized workloads.
  • Support migration strategies for stateful workloads and operator-based deployments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure effective storage integration within microservices platforms.

Automation, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps

  • Develop automation solutions for storage provisioning, configuration management, and compliance processes.
  • Utilize Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting to automate infrastructure operations.
  • Integrate storage-related processes into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and related tools.

Security and Compliance

  • Ensure storage architectures comply with security, audit, and operational standards.
  • Support storage-focused security controls, including RBAC, encryption at rest, key management integration, and network micro-segmentation initiatives.

Documentation and Stakeholder Communication

  • Produce detailed HLDs, LLDs, migration runbooks, architectural decision records, and operational documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, project managers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, and recommendations clearly across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions across multi-vendor environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE 3PAR, and Brocade/Cisco SAN switching technologies.
  • Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi clusters, storage integration, and VMware SRM/SRA.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex storage migrations, data center transitions, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise backup and recovery technologies, including NetBackup, Veeam, EMC Networker, Data Domain, SnapVault, and SnapMirror.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality architectural and technical documentation, including HLDs and LLDs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure storage services, hybrid cloud architectures, network integration, and subscription planning.
  • Strong knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, container storage interfaces, and persistent storage solutions for containerized workloads.
  • Hands-on experience with Pure Storage technologies, including FlashArray, FlashBlade, Purity OS, snapshots, replication, and Evergreen storage models.
  • Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies, including Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and artifact repositories.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, and SolarWinds.
  • Relevant vendor certifications such as NetApp NCDA/NCIE, VMware VCP, EMC/DELL, or HPE certifications preferred.
  • Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305 considered advantageous.
  • Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Red Hat certifications including CKA, CKAD, or EX280 strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing complex technical challenges., Candidates must be legally authorized to live and work in the country where the position is based, without requiring employer sponsorship.
