Job description
The System Administrator will support and advance a critical digital transformation initiative by administering, modernizing, and optimizing a Windows-based enterprise infrastructure. This role is responsible for the day-to-day stability, performance, and availability of systems while also contributing to forward-looking architecture and innovation efforts. The System Administrator will manage and support VMware virtualization environments, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and lifecycle management, while proactively monitoring systems to identify and resolve performance, reliability, and availability issues. The position requires strong experience with patch management, ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and up to date through structured change-management processes. A key responsibility includes administering enterprise backup and recovery solutions and leading disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution to ensure business continuity and data protection. In addition to operational responsibilities, the System Administrator will collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, and security teams to support infrastructure modernization, evaluate new technologies, and contribute to future-state platform design. The role also involves documenting systems, processes, and runbooks, supporting complex troubleshooting and escalations, and working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and vendors. The ideal candidate is technically strong, operationally disciplined, and comfortable balancing hands-on support with strategic initiatives that enable scalable, resilient, and innovative infrastructure services.
Requirements
Expertise in Windows Server administration within enterprise environments, including system configuration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and lifecycle management
Strong hands-on experience with VMware virtualization (vSphere), including performance tuning, capacity planning, and virtual infrastructure support
Proven ability to monitor and optimize system performance, proactively identifying issues, conducting root-cause analysis, and ensuring high availability and reliability
Demonstrated experience with patch management, backup, and disaster recovery, including executing patch cycles, administering backup solutions, and planning and testing DR strategies
Ability to support digital transformation and infrastructure modernization, collaborating on architecture, evaluating new technologies, and driving innovation while maintaining operational stability Previous experience in the public sector
