Job description
We are seeking a Web Developer to build, maintain, and enhance public-facing and internal web applications for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) at their headquarters in Washington, DC. You will work across the full stack to deliver accessible, secure, and performant web experiences that support the agency's mission of transportation safety., * Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Build backend APIs and services using Node.js, Python, .NET, or Java.
- Ensure all web content meets Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
- Develop and maintain content management system (CMS) integrations - Drupal, WordPress, or SharePoint.
- Collaborate with UX designers, content owners, and stakeholders to translate requirements into working features.
- Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews.
- Optimize web applications for performance, security, and SEO.
- Support continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to ongoing site reliability.
Requirements
Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of professional web development experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with at least one modern frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Backend development experience (Node.js, Python, .NET, or Java).
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and consumption.
- Working knowledge of Git version control and pull-request workflows.
- Understanding of Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance., * Experience developing for federal government websites.
- Familiarity with USWDS (U.S. Web Design System).
- Experience with Drupal, WordPress, or SharePoint CMS development.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) for web hosting and deployment.
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP security requirements.
- Active Public Trust clearance.
