Job description

The SAP Key User Specialist supports and enhances logistics and production systems within Plant Spartanburg by ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and SAP system performance. This role serves as a key liaison between operations, logistics, manufacturing technologies, and IT teams to optimize production processes, troubleshoot system issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The position is responsible for SAP IM/WM functionality, replenishment systems, process standardization, UAT testing, end-user training, and operational support to maintain production uptime, throughput, and inventory integrity.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Logistics Systems Support

  • Monitor production WIP (Work in Process) to ensure continuous material flow and smooth inventory transitions aligned with sequence, throughput, and volume targets.
  • Support and control internal logistics and production processes through SAP IM/WM systems.
  • Monitor replenishment systems and SAP-to-PLC interfaces to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Analyze inventory and operational reports within SAP and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Plant Spartanburg logistics standards and global operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate SAP master data, including inventory, error codes, control cycles, and system logs.

SAP Key User & Technical Support

  • Serve as the logistics key user for SAP-related processes, user access approvals, and system governance.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system validations, and go-live support activities.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and process-related issues by coordinating with IT, ESA, and third-party support teams.
  • Support system enhancements, structure changes, and future development initiatives for replenishment systems.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for IT development teams.
  • Prepare business process mapping and functional design documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Drive process optimization initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and waste reduction methodologies.
  • Identify root causes of process and system failures and implement corrective actions and countermeasures.
  • Introduce and standardize shop-floor logistics processes using VPS (Value-Added Production System) methodologies.
  • Facilitate workshops, benchmarking activities, and best-practice implementation initiatives.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve operational performance and system reliability.

Training & Change Management

  • Develop and maintain work instructions and process documentation.
  • Train end-users and support teams on SAP and logistics processes.
  • Manage business change requirements and support adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Act as a backup resource for other logistics systems specialists when required.

Project Management

  • Lead small-to-medium-sized logistics and systems projects.
  • Develop project plans, monitor timelines, manage change control processes, and ensure successful project execution within scope and budget.
  • Conduct status meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders and management teams., * Bachelor's degree in Inventory Control, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Word embeddings?, * Equivalent combination of education and 4+ years of manufacturing logistics experience may be considered., * 4+ years of experience in logistics key user functions, including:

  • Material flow management
  • SAP Warehouse Management (WM)
  • Goods receiving and inventory processes
  • Demand and consumption planning
  • 2+ years of experience with:
  • SAP systems support and troubleshooting
  • System testing and development
  • Process optimization and continuous improvement
  • Lean Manufacturing / 6S initiatives
  • Experience leading projects in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams.

Certifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of SAP WM/IM and material flow processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and logistics operations.
  • Advanced problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience with system testing, UAT, and change management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Basic knowledge of German, Spanish, or Chinese is a plus., * SAP Logistics: 4 years (Preferred)
