Join an advanced engineering team developing next-generation Electric Drive Units (EDUs) for future electrified vehicles. We are looking for an experienced Performance Engineer with a strong systems engineering mindset to support the definition, development, integration, and validation of EDU power and torque performance.
This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple interconnected systems including eMachines, inverters, transmissions, and thermal/cooling systems within a highly collaborative automotive environment.
About the Role
As an EDU Performance Engineer, you will take ownership of system-level power and torque delivery, ensuring performance targets are achieved through robust systems engineering processes.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, validation, controls, and attribute development to optimise total EDU system performance while supporting issue resolution, requirements decomposition, and future technology strategy.

- Translate and decompose system requirements into component-level targets
- Support validation and verification of system-level performance targets
- Work closely with eMachine, inverter, transmission, and thermal system teams
- Contribute to systems engineering activities across multiple vehicle programmes
- Assist in generating requirements, targets, and verification methods driven by customer requirements and FMEA activities
- Support root cause analysis, issue investigation, and data-driven problem solving
- Contribute to system architecture development and performance modelling
- Collaborate with technical specialists and advanced engineering teams on future EDU strategies and function development
- Identify opportunities for product, process, and performance improvements
- Support integration, assessment, and acceptance activities within the wider product delivery framework
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, Essential
- Experience working within a Systems Engineering environment
- Good understanding of Electric Drive Unit systems including:
- eMachines
- Inverters
- Electric powertrain systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Experience with requirements definition and systems integration
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Desirable
- Automotive industry experience
- Knowledge of system architecture and performance modelling
- Experience with validation and verification planning
- Understanding of failure mode analysis and system assessment
- Exposure to electrified propulsion systems and vehicle integration
