Job description
- Design database schemas, storage architectures, and query optimization structures for HHS-scale longitudinal datasets spanning multiple decades and millions of records per year
- Perform database administration - indexing, performance tuning, user access management, backup and recovery, and query optimization
- Build and maintain automated data pipelines for HHS data preprocessing, normalization, and integration
- Monitor data source connections, automated pipeline performance, and backend database health on an ongoing basis
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts, Python scripts, R scripts, and other automation tools for data processing and system administration
- Perform backend infrastructure assessments in partnership with the Enterprise Architect and OCIO - evaluate computing environments, assess data storage architectures, and document findings
- Support vulnerability remediation for backend database systems and application layers in coordination with the Security Steward/ISSO
- Produce embedded code documentation for all preprocessing scripts, pipeline code, and automation tools
- Apply OWASP secure coding standards to all open-source development and ensure compliance with HHS Secure Software Development Standard
- Assist with SA&A process diagramming and system requirement verification as needed
Requirements
Do you have experience in System deployment?, Code360 is seeking an experienced Data Analyst / Database Specialist to support a federal IT services engagement at our federal customer. The ideal candidate will own and manage technical data infrastructure, including the design and administration of databases supporting large-scale longitudinal health survey datasets.
In this role, you will build and maintain automated data pipelines, perform backend infrastructure assessments, and develop open-source scripting and automation solutions. You will also support vulnerability remediation efforts impacting backend systems and contribute to security architecture documentation.
The position requires strong expertise in database technologies, data engineering, and performance optimization, along with experience working with large and complex datasets. Familiarity with federal security standards and practices is highly desirable.
This role requires a Tier 4 clearance due to the elevated database access privileges associated with the work., * Minimum 5 years of database administration and data analytics experience
- Proficiency in SQL for schema design, indexing, and query optimization - experience with large-scale relational or analytical database platforms
- Demonstrated proficiency in Python and R for data processing, statistical analysis, and automation
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for system administration and deployment automation
- Familiarity with FISMA data classification, federal data governance, and OWASP secure coding standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 4 / Public Trust Level 6 background investigation (required for elevated database access per federal position sensitivity designation), * Oracle Certified Associate/Professional, AWS Database Specialty, or equivalent database certification
- Experience with machine learning model development and ML-adjacent data infrastructure
- D3.js experience for visualization scripting support
- Prior experience with federal health survey data or NCHS data systems
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 database security controls
- Experience with data lake or big data platforms for large-volume analytical datasets
- Familiarity with CIPSEA confidentiality requirements for federal health data, * Data modeling: 5 years (Required)
