Job description
The IT Hardware Specialist provides frontline support to internal employees with a strong focus on IT hardware deployment, refresh cycles, and device re-imaging. This role plays a key part in ensuring employees have properly configured, secure, and reliable endpoint devices throughout their lifecycle. Primary responsibilities include preparing, configuring, deploying, refreshing, and redeploying laptops and peripherals, as well as supporting employee onboarding and offboarding activities. This role supports inventory management and equipment logistics, including tracking assets, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and maintaining accurate hardware records.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Deploy, refresh, and re-image laptops and endpoint devices following standard configurations using standard build and InTune policies.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and IT Desktop Support Technician teams to update software and hardware requirements as a part of GPOs and/or InTune policies.
- Prepare hardware for new hires, terminations, and redeployment.
- Perform hardware diagnostics, coordinate repairs, and manage warranty replacements.
- Maintain accurate asset inventory and device lifecycle records.
- Manage IT equipment shipping, receiving, and logistics for remote and on-site employees.
- Provide basic endpoint troubleshooting and user assistance related to hardware including laptops, docks, monitors, and accessories.
- Ensure devices meet security, configuration, and compliance standards.
- Manage and resolve tickets using the ServiceNow enterprise ticketing system.
- Document solutions, troubleshooting steps, and common issues in the knowledge base.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical support via email?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of proven experience working within IT or a related field, including hands-on hardware support, execution of day-to-day IT operations, and supporting scalable, high-quality employee technology experiences
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service to the employees of the company through responsive phone, email, and deskside support.
- Familiarity with device lifecycle management, asset tracking, and inventory tools
- Ability to follow standardized build processes while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking abilities with a track record of analyzing issues and developing effective solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams., * Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Exposure to endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, SCCM, or similar solutions
- Familiarity with hybrid or cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, or similar).
- Experience with automation, scripting, or modern systems management tools.
- Understanding security best practices and basic compliance requirements.
