Job description

Dearborn Sausage Company is looking to add two PM SHIFT (3:55PM-2:30AM) QA Techs to join the Quality Control Team. The hours will be allocated between Monday-Friday with some Saturdays depending on company need.

The Quality Assurance Technician ensures that all meat products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, performing tests, and ensuring compliance with USDA, HACCP, and company-specific guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control & Testing:
  • Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods for quality, consistency, and safety.
  • Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on meat products.
  • Verify packaging, labeling, and coding to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA and state regulations, as well as HACCP and GMP standards.
  • Process Monitoring:
  • Monitor sanitation procedures, evaluate pre/post operations, and ensure proper cleaning protocols are followed.
  • Observe and report deviations in temperature, handling, or storage.
  • Communication & Training:
  • Communicate non-conformances and quality issues to production teams and management.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety regulations?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * 1-3 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the meat or food processing industry.

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, or noisy environments typical of meat processing facilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to use standard computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with USDA inspection processes.
  • Experience with laboratory testing equipment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)., * Associate (Required)
