Job description

  • Assisting in developing, documenting, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and securing a distributed computer systems environment with appropriate hardware, operating system, software applications and communications components

  • Assisting in disaster preparedness and response

  • Assisting in identifying, documenting, measuring, and improving Information Technology processes

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provides technical support to end users, performing diagnostics and troubleshooting of hardware, software, operating systems, applications, and connectivity issues.

  • Resolves access, authentication, performance, and configuration issues across supported systems and platforms.

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity, shared resources, server/client interactions, and enterprise service dependencies.

  • Identifies issues requiring escalation and coordinates with higher - level technical staff or service providers.

System & Software Support

  • Installs, configures, updates, and maintains computer operating systems, software applications, and approved security patches.

  • Supports the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise applications, productivity tools, and platform services.

  • Assists with configuration changes, system adjustments, and testing as part of change management processes.

Network, Directory, and Enterprise Services Support

  • Troubleshoots connectivity issues involving local, wide-area, wireless, and cloud-based resources.

  • Supports directory, identity, and access management functions, including group policies and access control settings.

  • Assists in resolving issues related to shared drives, mapped resources, print services, enterprise applications, or cloud service access.

Server & Infrastructure Assistance

  • Installs, configures, and supports server hardware and software under the direction of higher-level administrators.

  • Assists with operational tasks related to enterprise infrastructure, system updates, monitoring, and service reliability.

Mobile & Remote Technologies

  • Performs initial setup, activation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mobile devices and mobile operating platforms.

  • Installs updates, security patches, and approved applications for mobile and remote-access technologies.

Hardware, Peripherals & Communication Devices

  • Installs, configures, services, and troubleshoots distributed computing hardware, including workstations, peripherals, printers, scanners, and related devices.

  • Supports the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of communication devices and related systems, including VoIP, analog devices, and mobile platforms.

  • Performs preventive maintenance and coordinates repairs or replacements as needed.

Inventory, Asset, and Resource Management

  • Tracks and updates technology asset information, including assignment, location, condition, and lifecycle status.

  • Performs asset check-in/out, maintains inventory records, and participates in inventory audits.

  • Sanitizes equipment and prepares assets for transfer, surplus, or disposal in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Creates, modifies, or terminates user access to information resources under appropriate authorization.

Documentation & Operational Procedures

  • Creates and maintains technical documentation, support procedures, configuration records, and operational logs.

  • Documents system issues, resolutions, changes, and configurations to support continuity and knowledge sharing.

Training & User Support

  • Provides user guidance and training on hardware, software, communication tools, productivity applications, and general system usage.

  • Recommends training or resources to improve effective use of technology.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer sciences, management information systems, or related area is preferred

  • Certification in one or more of the following is preferred: Microsoft Desktop/Server Operating Systems, Networking, Security, Computer Programming, and/or Computer/Information Technology Support, All Florida Department of Health positions require the incumbent to be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
