Job description
As AI & Data Engineer within the SECO Group, you will play a key role in building the next generation of Data & AI products for the construction industry. You will work in a startup-minded environment, from research and data collection to AI pipelines and client-facing applications.
This role is not limited to data engineering or software development. It is a product-building role at the intersection of AI, data, software engineering, and construction intelligence. Your mission will be to transform millions of data points from different sources into innovative products that create real impact for our clients and for the industry., * You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, from idea to production:
- Research & Product Development: Explore new Data & AI use cases linked to construction, technical inspection, risk management, buildings, infrastructure, and engineering processes
- Data Collection & Structuring: Identify, collect, clean, and structure large volumes of data from multiple sources such as documents, images, project data, inspection reports, sensors, geospatial data, and business systems
- Data Pipelines: Build robust and scalable data pipelines to prepare, enrich, and deliver high-quality datasets for AI models and product features
- AI Enablement: Support the development and integration of AI models by preparing the right data foundations, evaluating outputs, and improving model performance through better data engineering
- Application Development: Develop modern web applications and client-facing products using technologies such as JavaScript, React, and Python
- Prototyping & Industrialization: Rapidly build prototypes, test them with users, iterate fast, and help transform successful concepts into reliable products
- Innovation & Startup Mindset: Work in a fast-moving environment where ownership, creativity, pragmatism, and execution speed are critical
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with business experts, engineers, inspectors, data specialists, and external partners to turn complex industry challenges into usable digital solutions
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software development?, * Strong experience in software development with Python and/or JavaScript
- Good knowledge of React and modern web application development
- Experience in data engineering, especially building pipelines, transforming data, and working with large datasets
- Interest or experience in AI, machine learning, generative AI, computer vision, document intelligence, or predictive analytics
- Ability to work with complex and heterogeneous data sources
- Experience with Databricks or modern data platforms is a strong plus
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor is a plus
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to move from an unclear business problem to a concrete technical solution
- Entrepreneurial mindset: autonomous, proactive, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Product-oriented thinking: you care not only about the code, but also about the user, the business value, and the final impact
- Interest in the construction, engineering, inspection, infrastructure, or real estate sector is a plus
- Fluency in English and French (Dutch is a plus)
