Job description
As a Automation Test Engineer, you will join our Test team working on a significant customer transformation programme in the water/utility sector. The programme involves digitalising core customer systems including CIS, billing platforms, and customer-facing digital channels. With quality assurance central to its success., * Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript for end-to-end, regression, and functional scenarios.
- Build reusable, modular test components; maintain and adapt existing regression suites as the application evolves, managing source control via Bitbucket.
- Automate end-to-end customer lifecycle journeys including account set-up, service transfers, billing runs, payment processing, and debt management.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket Pipelines) for fast, reliable feedback; triage failures, maintain healthy regression suites, and prepare clear test/defect reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders; log and track defects in JIRA.
- Collaborate with developers, BA's, product owners, and architects to translate requirements into risk-based test scenarios; participate in Agile ceremonies; document frameworks and best practices; champion shift-left testing and quality culture across the programme.
Requirements
Do you have experience in TypeScript?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript producing clean, well-structured and maintainable test code.
- Experience with Selenium WebDriver IO, Playwright, or Cypress automation frameworks.
- Experience with BrowserStack's Cross Browser, App Testing, and Automate features.
- Demonstrated ability to write automated scripts from scratch and maintain existing test suites, including adapting scripts to application changes.
- ISTQB Foundation Certificate or equivalent.
- ISTQB Test Automation Engineer.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
