Job description

Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors. We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry.

The Company has recently completed a merger creating a publicly listed operating company (NASDAQ "IMSR"), to secure the capital resources for our next growth phase. With the current alignment of US Federal and State government, as well as industry interest in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and advanced reactor technologies such as Terrestrial Energy's IMSR, there is today a unique and compelling opportunity to participate in the execution of the company's growth business plan.

The Data Scientist, under the direction of the Digital Engineering Manager, is primarily responsible for partnering with nuclear engineering teams to develop, refine, and scale large-scale models that strengthen engineering analysis, decision-making, and predictive insight across the organization.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Build and maintain analytical models supporting engineering decisions across workforce and schedule forecasting, simulation result aggregation, supplier and supply-chain analytics, and reliability and risk modelling.
  • Develop reproducible data pipelines that pull from MBSE/PLM, SPDM, schedule, ERP, and simulation output systems and serve cleaned datasets to downstream tools.
  • Partner with Reactor Physics, Thermal Hydraulics, and Safety Analysis to design analyses over simulation campaigns, including uncertainty quantification, surrogate models, and sensitivity studies.
  • Produce dashboards, briefings, and technical memoranda that translate analysis into decisions for engineering leadership and program management.
  • Define the data-quality, versioning, and validation practices that make analyses defensible in a regulated environment.
  • Contribute to the build-out of internal forecasting and planning tools in collaboration with Software Development.

Core Competencies

  • Statistical modelling (regression, time-series, Bayesian inference, uncertainty quantification, optimization, or simulation based methods.
  • Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and SQL
  • End-to-end analytics from raw data to actionable insights
  • Technical communication and stakeholder collaboration
  • Reproducible workflows, versioning, validation, and documentation

Requirements

Do you have experience in Stakeholder management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (statistics, applied mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, operations research), or a bachelor's with equivalent applied experience.

  • 2 or more years of experience building analytical models or data pipelines used in a production or operational setting.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience with at least one notebook-and-pipeline workflow.

Assets

  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, oil and gas, utilities, or another regulated engineering domain.
  • Familiarity with reactor physics codes, thermal-hydraulic codes, or finite-element output formats.
  • Experience with PLM or SPDM systems such as Teamcenter, 3DEXPERIENCE, or ModelCenter.
  • Exposure to MLOps tooling and reproducible-research practices., Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship for employment visa status.
