Instructional & Classroom Support Tech 3, Classification: Part-time Hourly Reports to: CIS Faculty This position will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) days. The College reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time after the minimum posting period once a sufficient applicant pool has been established.
This part-time role provides advanced technical administration of lab infrastructure, including virtual systems, enterprise networks, and isolated training environments, enabling students to engage in realistic, industry-aligned learning experiences.
By maintaining high-performing, secure, and accessible lab systems and collaborating closely with faculty to deliver applied learning, this position directly supports Olympic College's mission to help students achieve academic and career success. It equips students with in-demand technical skills, supports innovative teaching practices, and strengthens workforce readiness in critical fields such as cybersecurity and information technology., * Provide support to Computer Information Systems (CIS) programs and courses.
- Maintain production equipment including networking components (routers, switches, etc.) and servers running Windows Server and Red Hat (or other) Linux.
- operating in a lab environment isolated from the main Olympic College network under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues across physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Maintain lab workstations, assets, and equipment used by students, including virtualized lab environments.
- Provision, clone, and facilitate the use of virtual machines.
- Configure and secure host machines. Diagnose, repair, and upgrade instructional systems as needed.
- Maintain a detailed, computerized inventory of all lab equipment; make recommendations for hardware and software purchases; observe compliance with licensing agreements.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop, deploy, and maintain lab exercises and remote access.
- Prepare lab environments in advance of courses.
- Provide technical training and guidance to students and faculty on lab tools, operating systems, platforms, and network architecture.
- Assist in the design and implementation of hands-on learning modules involving networking, security, and systems administration.
- Act as technical lead for the instructional lab environment.
- Work with program faculty to align lab services with course learning outcomes.
- Develop and document lab configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Coordinate and direct work performed by student lab technicians.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows support?, * Experience administering Linux systems (preferably Red Hat-based distributions), Windows Server, network infrastructure.
- Experience with virtualization platforms, network troubleshooting and system diagnostics, managing lab or enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts, Active Directory, system security principles., * Experience supporting cybersecurity labs or training environments.
- Knowledge of network isolation techniques, security tools and vulnerability scanners, scripting or automation.
- Experience working in an academic or training environment.

This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
