Job description
You will shape the future of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) by resolving technical challenges and driving implementation into the UK airspace system. This position involves collaboration with industry, policy, and technical teams to assess and approve UTM systems. Responsibilities
Prepare and input into technical artefacts to progress the technical understanding of UTM; review artefacts created by external parties with the goal of assessment and approval. Work collaboratively with other dependent streams such as Electronic Conspicuity (EC), Detect and Avoid (DAA) and System Wide Information Management (SWIM) to determine UTM's role and map technical dependencies. Collaborate with policy and legislative teams in broader UTM integration. Resolve day-to-day technical challenges related to UTM and wider data management in the lower airspace, as directed by the line manager.
Requirements
Data and systems knowledge of at least one of the following areas: Uncrewed aviation systems (UAS, UTM, DAA); traditional aviation systems (ATM, ANS, CNSS); software engineering concepts; solutions or systems architecture. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with technical specialists and diverse stakeholders. Comfortable operating in a new and unknown environment and able to challenge current thinking constructively. Committed, reliable, flexible, a strong team worker and able to work independently. Good organisational skills and experience working within multi-disciplined teams. Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Delivered or worked in a Service Oriented Architecture environment. Designing, testing, implementing solutions in the aviation system. Experience within the drone industry as operator or service provider in UTM/ATM systems. Knowledge of Cyber Security. Knowledge of the CAA and UK aviation and Aerospace industry, including key legislative factors. Experience in a complex delivery environment.
