Job description

The Facilities Systems Team Leader sits within the Systems Team, under IT Services. There are currently 5 highly-skilled members of staff that report to this position. We're looking for someone to bring the very best out of this team and work very closely with our colleagues in Estates, Accommodation, Campus Services and beyond., IT Services is looking for an exceptional leader to drive strategic changes in our facilities management space. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of both our digital and physical campus infrastructure and services as well as the interfaces between those two worlds.

The team looks after a wide portfolio from CCTV to door locks and timetabling software to building management systems. They support some of the most vital day-to-day pieces of infrastructure to keep the University running smoothly.

Some of these systems are showing their age, some are new and exciting, but almost all of them have potential for further integration and development to improve both the staff and student experience at York and underpin a world class University experience. Your role will be to realise this potential with an excellent team of people to support you.

You'll work closely with our colleagues in Estates, Campus Services and Accommodation to ensure that we're delivering a slick student and staff experience right across our estate, from door locks, to timetables., * Lead and develop a highly effective business systems function, by developing and utilising effective change control procedures, ensuring the smooth operation of systems during maintenance and enhancement periods. Work with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure a systematic, well-controlled approach to systems change.

  • Work closely with IT Services and relevant stakeholders to project manage the introduction of new features and services. To seek and maintain support and involvement of process owners and end-users throughout the lifecycle of these projects, ensuring that the enterprise systems support the needs of the business effectively.
  • Establish and deliver an approachable, agile and efficient end-user support service, including systems assistance and training provision to support users of business systems.
  • Plan and prioritise the workload of the team, in consultation with business owners and service leads.
  • Actively manage relationships with key stakeholders maintaining user engagement throughout, to ensure business requirements are well understood.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Microsoft Office?, * Level 6 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include an undergraduate degree. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience., * Lead initiatives/ projects

  • Gather, analyse, interpret and report complex data/information
