Job description
We are seeking a skilled Hardware Design Engineer to design and document electrical control systems and hardware for industrial applications. This role is responsible for developing accurate electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and bills of materials while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, including UL, NEC, and NFPA., * Collaborate closely with project engineers, team leaders, and purchasing personnel to support engineering and project requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and specify electrical hardware and components for industrial control systems.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings for electrical devices and control systems.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of drawings, revisions, parts lists, and associated technical documentation.
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) from engineering specifications and design documentation.
- Establish and maintain custom AutoCAD Electrical menus, symbols, and block libraries for control panel components to improve design consistency and efficiency.
- Review and interpret technical specifications, engineering documents, and system layouts to ensure proper component integration and compliance.
- Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and vendors while maintaining a professional level of communication and technical support.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality designs within established production schedules.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards?, The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams, management, purchasing, customers, and vendors to support project execution. This position requires strong expertise in electrical system design, AutoCAD Electrical, component selection, and maintaining drafting standards to deliver high-quality, compliant designs within project timelines., * Strong understanding of electrical design principles, including electrical circuits, control systems, components, and power distribution.
- Ability to create electrical drive control drawings based on written or verbal requirements.
- Capability to independently perform drafting and design tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering specifications and technical documents.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical design and CAD drafting.
- Hands-on experience with UL certifications and compliance, primarily UL 508A standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical 2014 or newer is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical scripting/programming is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Source/Destination Codes and Smart Layout functions in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience creating electrical blocks with attributes, including a solid understanding of layer management.
- Familiarity with MS Access Database, library creation, model space, and paper space layouts.
- Strong background in analyzing engineering documentation and system layouts related to electrical components and parts.
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA-79, and UL-508 standards.
- Experience with EPLAN is preferred.
