Job description
As we continue to expand, we are looking for a skilled Systems Administrator who can maintain and strengthen the digital backbone of our laboratory operations., We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with laboratory informatics expertise to support and maintain our technology infrastructure and laboratory information systems.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for ensuring seamless data flow from analytical instruments to final client reporting. You will administer LIMS, manage instrument integration, develop custom reports, maintain cybersecurity compliance, and support overall IT operations in a fast-growing contract testing laboratory.
This role is primarily hands-on technical execution with opportunities to contribute to process improvement., Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) Administration
· Build, administer, and optimize our LIMS platform for sample tracking, workflow automation, and data management
· Configure modules for sample login, chain of custody, testing workflows, results review, and COA generation
· Integrate LIMS with ERP, CRM, and billing systems
· Maintain system validation and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, FDA, and related standards
Instrument Integration & Data Integrity
· Manage bidirectional data transfer between analytical instruments (HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS, FTIR, microbiological systems) and LIMS
· Maintain chromatography data systems and middleware (MassHunter, OpenLab, etc.)
· Troubleshoot connectivity and optimize analytical data workflows
· Ensure ALCOA+ data integrity throughout the testing lifecycle
Custom Reporting & Development
· Design and develop custom Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and client-specific reports
· Build automated reporting and dashboards using SQL, Python, C#, Crystal Reports, or similar tools
· Create scalable reporting templates to accommodate diverse matrices and regulatory requirements
Cybersecurity & Regulatory Compliance
· Ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and electronic records/signatures requirements
· Manage user permissions, audit trails, and disaster recovery systems
· Conduct routine security audits and maintain robust data protection protocols
IT Operations & Support
· Maintain network infrastructure, servers, workstations, and system performance
· Collaborate with laboratory staff and management to align IT systems with operational needs
· Coordinate with vendors and support IT procurement processes
Systems Improvement & Innovation
· Contribute to IT improvements that support accreditation, automation, and laboratory expansion
Requirements
Do you have experience in Systems integration?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Required
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Chemistry, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 3+ years of IT experience in a systems administration or laboratory informatics role
· Hands-on LIMS implementation and administration experience
· Strong programming/report development skills (SQL required; Python, C#, VBA, or similar preferred)
· Experience integrating analytical instruments and chromatography data systems
· Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, FDA/GMP environments, and data integrity principles
Preferred
· Experience in contract testing, food, or dietary supplement laboratories
· Familiarity with HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and microbiological testing workflows
· Experience with laboratory automation and robotics
· ITIL, PMP, or laboratory informatics certifications

Work Environment
This position is based on-site at our research facility in Kannapolis, NC, supporting direct instrument connectivity and laboratory operations.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
