Job description
The Geologic Coring Technician is a detail-oriented and safety-conscious technician responsible for operating coring equipment, collecting subsurface geological samples, and ensuring the integrity and documentation of core samples for analysis. Logging and processing the core samples. This role is critical in supporting mineral and material exploration efforts., * Operate and maintain coring rigs and associated equipment in field environments
- Collect continuous core samples from various geological formations
- Label, log, and preserve core samples according to standard procedures
- Assist geologists in interpreting core data and preparing field reports
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of coring equipment
- Transport core samples to laboratories or storage facilities as needed
- Maintain accurate field records, including drilling logs and sample inventories
- Collaborate with drilling crews, geologists, and project managers to meet exploration goals
- Perform pre-shift safety inspection of assigned equipment to assure safe operation
- Continuously observe, monitor, and report any condition that could lead to equipment failure or a safety hazard
- Follow direction of Supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
- Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
- Represent CSA values at all times
- Perform related duties as required
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Personal protective equipment (PPE) use?, * Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Knowledge of relevant safety procedures and MSHA guidelines
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to work in remote and physically demanding environments, * Working knowledge of various coring methods
- Experience operating heavy mobile equipment
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Valid driver's license, * Lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand, sit, and climb for extended periods of time
- Walk and climb on uneven surfaces
- Stoop, kneel, reach, stand, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, bend or move objects
