VDI Engineer

Apex Systems is currently hiring for a VDI Engineer with a mission-focused Department of Defense client supporting critical enterprise infrastructure. This role will support the design, maintenance, and optimization of a secure virtual desktop environment that directly enables mission operations in a high-impact environment.

Project Details / Mission Supported:

• Supports a Department of Defense mission-critical environment delivering secure virtual desktop capabilities to end users globally
• Responsible for maintaining and optimizing a VMware Horizon VDI platform, including performance tuning and infrastructure health
• Works closely with cross-functional teams to support system upgrades, image updates, and ongoing modernization efforts

• 5-7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or virtualization engineering
• Hands-on experience with VMware technologies including ESXi, vSphere, and virtual infrastructure environments
• Experience supporting VDI platforms such as VMware Horizon or Citrix, including troubleshooting and end-user support
• Experience with image management, including maintaining golden images, adding software, and performing routine upgrades
• Understanding of storage concepts including IOPS, datastores, and performance optimization in virtual environments
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), and Windows Server administration
• Experience using PowerShell for automation, scripting, or administrative tasks
