Job description
Our client is seeking an HRIS Operations Manager to lead payroll operations, HR technology administration, and workforce data initiatives within a growing, multi-state organization. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll and HR systems, driving process improvements, system enhancements, and cross-functional projects while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a collaborative, hands-on approach and thrives in an environment where they can influence change, build relationships, and own outcomes., * Own and manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll execution.
- Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for HRIS and payroll systems, overseeing configurations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Lead HRIS and payroll technology projects, including system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, user acceptance activities, and go-live support.
- Maintain payroll tax compliance, processing controls, audit readiness, and payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations.
- Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and business leadership to support payroll, compensation, reporting, and workforce technology initiatives.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and workforce analytics to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Manage third-party payroll and technology vendor relationships, including issue resolution, service delivery oversight, and escalation management.
- Ensure data integrity, governance standards, and security across payroll and employee information systems.
- Support onboarding processes, employee inquiries, and evolving HR operational functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and user experience.
- Assist with payroll, compensation, and compliance audits while maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Fundamental Payroll Certification certification?, Do you have experience in Vendor relationship building?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 5+ years of in-house payroll experience supporting complex, multi-state payroll environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading a payroll and/or HRIS implementation, upgrade, or major system enhancement project.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, payroll compliance requirements, and payroll controls.
- Hands-on HRIS administration experience, including system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, reporting, and ongoing optimization.
- Experience supporting organizations with significant employee populations across multiple states.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation activities.
- Proven ability to create workforce metrics, dashboards, and operational reporting.
- Strong project management, process improvement, and change management capabilities.
- Experience partnering with Finance, Accounting, and senior leadership stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience with enterprise HRIS and payroll platforms strongly preferred.
- Power BI, business intelligence, or advanced reporting experience preferred.
- CPP, FPC, or similar payroll certification preferred.
- Experience supporting audits, leave administration, compensation programs, commissions, or complex payroll structures is a plus.
