Job description

Summary: This role will report to a Foreman Line Location or Superintendent Production position and will have responsibilities over an entire operational area. The Line Locator is responsible for the 811 One-call response, documentation, and recordkeeping ensuring compliance with the One-call laws., Include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct surveys for new pipelines and power lines.
  • Performs line locating for One-Call requests in accordance with the line-finding procedures.
  • Leads safety efforts to ensure all excavation work in and around pipelines is performed as per. established procedures to protect the health and well-being of personnel involved in the work.
  • Execute all One-call requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Installs, stakes out, and maps locations using GPS systems.
  • Sweeps, marks, and maps underground utilities prior to excavation.
  • Reads and utilizes drawings, schematics, alignment sheets and P&ID drawings.
  • Performs routine assignments based on detailed instructions/past practices.
  • Supervises all line crossings by third parties.
  • Supervises Hydrovac daylighting of lines (as needed).
  • Keeps records or database of all Line Locates.
  • Ensures pipeline maps are maintained and are readily available.
  • Coordinates with GIS internal team to keep systems updated.
  • Ensures the implementation of safety and environmental procedures and in compliance with regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum (1) year of line-location experience and (5) years of oilfield experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in underground line locating and mapping of underground utilities using company approved line locating devices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic computer skills and to learn company-specific applications.
