Job description
The Director of Information Technology is a hands-on leadership role responsible for day-to-day technology operations for a growing community bank. This position leads IT team members, manages key vendor and managed service provider relationships, and oversees technology projects, system implementations, and branch conversions. The role also partners closely with executive leadership to ensure technology services are secure, reliable, compliant, and aligned with business goals., * Directly supervise, coach, and develop a team of field support technicians and network administrators
- Assign workloads, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team culture aligned with the bank's values
- Coordinate training and professional development opportunities for IT staff
- Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage across locations, * Serve as the primary point of contact for executive technology support, including support for senior leadership
- Provide prompt, discreet, high-priority assistance for executive hardware, software, and connectivity needs
- Set up, configure, and maintain executive devices, including laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and remote access tools
- Support executive presentations, board meetings, and video conferences by ensuring technology is prepared and functioning properly
- Coordinate with the IT team to escalate and resolve executive support requests quickly and effectively
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding executive communications, data, and business activities, * Serve as the primary point of contact for outsourced network, infrastructure, and security service providers
- Monitor service-level agreements and hold vendors accountable for performance and deliverables
- Review security reports, incident response activity, and remediation efforts from managed service providers
- Evaluate vendor contracts and provide recommendations regarding renewals, changes, or replacements
- Coordinate third-party vendors during system implementations and infrastructure changes, * Partner with the project management office (PMO) to plan, manage, and track IT projects from initiation through completion
- Develop project plans, timelines, resource requirements, and status reports for leadership review
- Coordinate branch openings, closures, and conversions, including infrastructure setup, equipment provisioning, and transition planning
- Oversee system implementations and decommissioning efforts, managing technical, logistical, and communication needs
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination to minimize business disruption during technology changes
- Maintain an up-to-date IT project calendar and communicate status updates to relevant stakeholders
Infrastructure and Operations Oversight
- Oversee the performance, availability, and reliability of the bank's network, systems, and end-user technology environment
- Ensure adherence to IT policies, procedures, and security standards across locations
- Monitor escalated support issues and help ensure timely resolution
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, system configurations, and asset inventories
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing
IT Audit and Regulatory Compliance
- Participate in internal and external IT audits by providing documentation, evidence, and responses as needed
- Help ensure IT operations and controls meet applicable regulatory requirements, including FFIEC, GLBA, and related banking guidelines
- Track and support remediation of audit findings within established timeframes
- Assist with the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and risk assessments
- Coordinate with compliance and internal audit teams on examination preparation and follow-up activities
Requirements
Do you have experience in Staff supervision?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 5-7 years of progressive IT experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Experience managing IT projects, vendor relationships, and infrastructure or operations teams
- Familiarity with managed security service providers (MSSPs), managed network providers, and related networking and security concepts
- Experience in a banking or financial services environment
- Experience supporting C-suite or senior executive technology needs
- Project management certification such as PMP
Skills and Competencies
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Working knowledge of network infrastructure, security frameworks, and IT operations
- Understanding of banking regulations and IT compliance requirements, including FFIEC, GLBA, and SOC standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders across the organization
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and reliability
- Proficiency with IT service management tools, project tracking software, and Microsoft Office
