Job description

Conduct stakeholder interviews and working sessions to surface both formal systems (SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Snowflake) and informal data sources (spreadsheets, Airtable, SharePoint, etc.). Conduct an in-depth analysis of the database. Look at the database schemas and data stored in those databases to understand what data is available to work with. Compile a practical inventory of structured and non-standard data assets, emphasizing how they are used. Identify overlap, duplication, and conflicting data across systems; clarify likely systems of record versus derivative copies. Capture key data quality concerns, schema inconsistencies, and implementation nuances that impact reporting and downstream use. Deliver a concise, working-level summary of findings and observations, suitable for internal translation to executive stakeholders ( , but a clear synthesis of insights and risks).

Focus: Evaluate how data is being used and optimize the reporting environment. Validate and refine the existing report inventory through stakeholder engagement and usage data. Assess report effectiveness (e.g., actively used, redundant, underutilized, or confusing). Develop clear disposition recommendations for each report (Keep, Retire, Consolidate, Modify), with practical rationale. Identify opportunities to consolidate overly specific or duplicative reports into more strategic, multi-use outputs. Surface gaps, including unanswered business questions and unmet reporting needs. Document inconsistencies in definitions, metrics, and terminology across teams. Deliver a concise summary of insights, recommendations, and prioritization guidance to support executive-level decision-making. In addition to evaluating existing reports, also identify anything that is missing from the list that the client has. Phase II is based on interviews, working sessions, and actionable summaries-again client does not want a heavy written deliverable but still needs structured, defensible outcomes.
