Job description
We have a requirement for a person to fulfil the role of Pig Technical Support based GB, on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This role involves providing technical support and managing performance trials at our pig performance test house in GB. The ideal candidate will possess a very high level of attention to detail, an ability to work independently in a flexible manner and an ability to collect, collate and report data in a timely manner. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Pigs.
What you'll be doing:
- Running Pig trials on our grower - finisher pig performance house
- Collection and analysis of all performance and feed intake data during trial
- Ensuring the performance house is accurately managed during the trial
- Provide technical and nutritional advice Conducting other technical duties such as literature reviews, best practice benchmarking etc
- Primarily based at the Pig Performance House in GB, flexibility and occasional travel within GB will be required.
Requirements
- Practical farming experience, Knowledge of pig production would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- An ability to work on own initiative but also to work collaboratively with others; a willingness to go the extra mile in pursuit of successful outcomes
- Computer literate with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and proficient in all Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
- Numerical accuracy skills and good attention to detail
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and work under tight deadlines
- A strong work ethic and proactive, problem solving attitude
- Ability to work in a farming environment and prepared to occasionally lift to 25kg
- Ability to work flexibly from a time point of view and be adaptable to trial needs
- Full driving licence and access to transport
Desirable Requirements
- Degree level education in an agricultural or animal related degree
- While not essential, familiarity with pig nutrient and feed formulation would be advantageous
