Job description
The PACS Administrator manages the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to ensure seamless operation, maintenance, and accessibility of medical imaging within the healthcare facility. This role supports clinical teams by maintaining system integrity, troubleshooting issues, and upholding high standards for data security and patient privacy. The PACS Administrator collaborates with IT, radiologists, and other stakeholders to optimize system functionality and user satisfaction., * Manages day-to-day operations of the PACS, including system maintenance, user access, troubleshooting, and data reconciliation.
- Serves as a liaison between the healthcare facility, PACS vendors, radiologists, and other associated parties to address system updates, stability, and maintenance tasks.
- Provides user training and ongoing support for PACS-related applications and processes.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and facilitates quality and process improvement initiatives.
- Monitors system performance and escalates hardware or software issues to vendors as necessary.
- Investigates, identifies, and proposes solutions to PACS operational challenges.
- Administers system access by creating, modifying, and deactivating user accounts.
- Facilitates data storage, organization, and retrieval, ensuring data integrity and timely access to imaging records.
- Ensures compliance with data security, privacy standards, and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
- Collaborates with IT and clinical staff to integrate PACS with other hospital systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in radiologic technology, information systems analysis, or database management required, * Proficiency in managing, troubleshooting, and configuring PACS hardware and software systems.
- Strong understanding of medical imaging data management principles, including storage, organization, and retrieval.
- Knowledge of radiographic technology and applications.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements, including HIPAA and quality assurance.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across clinical, technical, and vendor teams.
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills to address complex technical and operational issues.
- Ability to operate independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse teams, including healthcare professionals and external vendors.
- Capability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Licenses and Certifications
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire required
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist preferred
- Certifications in networking and/or database management preferred
