Job description

  • Design, implement, and operate cloud networking components within the AWS Landing Zone (VPCs, subnets, routing, gateways, load balancing)
  • Build and maintain standardized, reusable networking patterns for application teams
  • Implement and support hybrid connectivity solutions such as VPN and, where applicable, Direct Connect
  • Partner with security and platform teams to apply network security controls and segmentation
  • Support onboarding of application teams by integrating networking requirements into landing-zone-approved patterns
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network and connectivity issues across cloud services
  • Contribute to operational tooling and documentation for network observability and support

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in cloud networking, infrastructure, or platform engineering
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating AWS networking constructs (VPC, subnets, routing, NAT, gateways, load balancing)
  • Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, routing, firewalling, and traffic flows
  • Experience working with network security concepts such as segmentation, security groups, and NACLs
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments, with Git-based workflows
  • Strong collaboration skills and a sense of ownership for operational reliability

Strong Differentiators

  • Experience with Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, or hybrid architectures
  • Familiarity with AWS Landing Zone / Control Tower environments
  • Knowledge of AWS network security services (Network Firewall, WAF, Shield)
  • Experience designing multi-account and multi-region architectures, * Influence cloud networking architecture at enterprise scale
  • Be part of a highly mature AWS and platform engineering organization
  • Solve complex security, scale, and connectivity challenges
  • Clear path toward Principal Engineer / Architect roles

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • AWS and/or networking certifications are a plus (e.g., AWS Advanced Networking, security certifications)

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $101,303 USD Annual to $188,135 Annual USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
