As AI agents become software's newest users, they need isolated environments to experiment, test, and execute safely. We enable companies to create Postgres branches instantly, giving every agent its own environment with production-like data, without multiplying infrastructure costs or operational complexity. Teams can adopt Xata for agentic workflows while keeping their production databases where they are.
What You'll Be Doing
You will join our backend team, responsible for the core services and infrastructure that power the Xata platform.

- AWS & GCP, * Develop backend services and APIs that power our hosted and self-hosted offerings.
- Work on database branching, storage systems, replication, lifecycle management, and orchestration.
- Own projects end-to-end, from identifying opportunities and proposing solutions to implementation, deployment, and operation.
- Contribute to our growing portfolio of open-source projects, including pgroll, pgstream, and other components of the Xata platform.
- Collaborate closely with engineers across backend, frontend, product, and platform teams.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
- Participate in on-call rotations and help maintain a reliable platform.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Rust (programming language)?, * You are highly self-directed and thrive in environments with a high degree of ownership. You don't wait to be told what to do-you identify opportunities, propose solutions, and drive projects from idea to production.
- Significant experience building backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems software.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, or similar languages.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and database systems.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment., * Experience working on database technologies or PostgreSQL internals.
- Experience building storage or infrastructure systems.
- Experience developing Kubernetes operators.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Experience building developer tools or platform products.
