Job description
Under general supervision, the Testing & Multilingual Coordinator oversees all middle and high school state and local assessments and coordinates the school's multilingual (ML/ESOL) program in compliance with South Carolina Department of Education guidelines.
This position ensures test security and integrity, supports accurate data use, and oversees identification, services, and progress monitoring of multilingual learners. Works collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff. Reports to the Principal or designee.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssessment Coordination (.75)
- Plans and manages all school-wide testing activities, including scheduling, training, materials, and security
- Ensures compliance with all state testing procedures and serves as liaison with testing authorities
- Trains staff and monitors testing to ensure proper administration and address irregularities
- Prepares, secures, distributes, and collects testing materials in accordance with regulations
- Maintains accurate and confidential testing records and submits required documentation
- Coordinates accommodations for eligible students (IEP, 504, ML)
- Analyzes and shares assessment data to support instructional decisions
- Communicates testing information to staff, students, and families
- Stays current on testing policies and coordinates make-up testing as needed
Multilingual (ML/ESOL) Coordination (.25)
- Oversees identification, placement, services, and exit procedures for ML students
- Coordinates language proficiency assessments (e.g., WIDA Screener, ACCESS)
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state ML requirements, including documentation and parent communication
- Maintains accurate student records and monitors language development and academic progress
- Collaborates with staff to implement appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations
- Supports scheduling and service delivery for ML students
- Serves as liaison between school, families, and community resources
- Provides or coordinates staff training on best practices for supporting multilingual learners, * Supports school improvement efforts through data and program insight
- Maintains organization and security of testing materials
- Participates in staff development, meetings, and committees as assigned
- Upholds school policies and presents a positive image of the school
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Do you have a valid Teaching Certification license?, Do you have a valid English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement certification?, Do you have experience in Standardized test administration?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree required; valid South Carolina teaching certificate. ESOL/ML endorsement (or eligibility) preferred. Experience in testing, multilingual programs, or school administration preferred.
Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of state testing procedures, ML/ESOL compliance, and data analysis. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain confidentiality, and support staff effectively.
