Job description

American Steel & Aluminum is seeking a hands-on ERP & IT Systems Administrator to support and improve our technology environment across multiple Maine facilities. This role blends ERP system administration, operational systems support, process improvement, and on-the-ground IT coordination within a manufacturing and distribution environment.

Working alongside our Managed IT Services provider and internal IT resources, this individual will serve as the primary onsite technology lead for Maine operations. The role will initially focus heavily on system improvement initiatives, ERP optimization, integration projects, and operational process support, while evolving into a long-term systems administration and continuous improvement position.

This is a high-visibility role with exposure across operations, production, inventory control, sales, and leadership.   • Administer and support our ERP system (MIE Trak or similar)
  • Manage users, permissions, workflows, and system configurations
  • Troubleshoot ERP issues and coordinate with vendor support
  • Support reporting, data accuracy, and process improvements
  • Partner with operations, production, and sales teams to improve workflows and system usage
  • Assist in ERP governance, security roles, and process standardization

Systems Integration & Process Improvement

  • Support integration between ERP and operational systems (quoting tools, scanners, reporting platforms, etc.)
  • Assist in building and maintaining automation and data flows
  • Support future dashboarding, reporting, and digital workflow initiatives
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
  • Participate in technology and operational improvement projects across facilities

Operational IT Support

  • Coordinate with Managed IT Services provider on escalated infrastructure and support issues
  • Provide onsite support for hardware, scanners, printers, user access, and operational technology
  • Support Zebra scanners, label printers, and shop-floor hardware
  • Assist with workstation setup, onboarding/offboarding, and user support
  • Troubleshoot software, connectivity, and access-related issues

Network & Systems Coordination

  • Work alongside external IT providers to support reliable network and system operation across sites
  • Support Wi-Fi, VPN, remote desktop, and general connectivity troubleshooting
  • Help standardize technology practices and system configurations across facilities
  • Assist with maintaining uptime and operational continuity

Multi-Site Technology Support

  • Provide onsite support across South Portland, Saco, and West Bath facilities
  • Act as a liaison between operations, leadership, vendors, and IT support providers
  • Ensure consistency in systems, processes, and user experience across locations

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Required

  • 3-7+ years of experience in ERP administration, systems administration, or operational IT support
  • Experience supporting ERP systems in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across systems, hardware, and operational technology
  • Experience with:
  • Windows environments
  • Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Remote desktop environments (RDP)
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple facilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership

Preferred

  • SQL experience
  • Experience with manufacturing, inventory, or warehouse operations
  • Experience supporting barcode scanners, label printers, and shop-floor technology
  • Familiarity with ERP integrations, reporting tools, or automation platforms
  • Experience coordinating with third-party IT providers and software vendors
